Convert Word to HTML for Word XP

Learn step-by-step how to convert Word to HTML using you Microsoft Word XP. This is as easy (and as fast) as blinking your eyes!

You can convert Word to HTML within Word XP or you can use a free convert program called Convert Doc.

The choice is yours!

Word to HTML using Word XP

This is easy to do. You work with the document in Word XP and then simply save it as a Web Page.

To convert Word to HTML using Word XP, follow these steps:

1. When you are working in Word XP, change your current view to Web Layout, by choosing View ► Web Layout from the menu bar.

You'll notice that most of the Word components are available to use, except, for example, footnotes, page numbers, etc. The are obviously not part of a web page.
   
2. To see what your finished product will look like in your web browser,
choose File ► Web Page Preview.

This will open your current Web Browser and show you a preview of the page you've just made.
   
3. Finally, once you're done, you need to save this document.

Choose File ► Save As Web Page. The Save As dialog box appears.

4. In the "File Name" text box, type a new name for the web page. I usually add the .html after the name, otherwise Word will save it as a .htm
   
5. Click on the "Change Title" button and type a new Page Title name for the web page.
   
6. Click the "Save" button once you're done.

Convert Word to HTML using Convert Doc

You can choose to convert your word file to html without even opening the document. To do this you need to download Convert Doc, which is a free program to use.

To convert Word to HTML using Convert Doc, follow these steps:

1. After you have downloaded and installed Convert Doc, open the program.

2. From the "Conversion Method" option group, click on "Use 'Convert Doc" (marked as "1").
   
3. From the "Input File Format", click on the drop-down arrow and select the option
"[9]Microsoft Word 97-2003 (DOC)" (marked as "2").
   
4. Click on the "File" button (marked as "3") on the right side of the "Input File(s)" option and select the document file that you want to be converted.
   
5. From the "Convert to File Format", click on the drop-down arrow and select the option "[4]HTML (HTM)" (marked as "4").
   
6. Click on the "File" button (marked as "5") on the right side of the "Output File(s)" option and type a new name for the output HTML file that you want. Add the extension of .html if needed.
   
7. Click on the "Convert" button (marked as "6") to start the conversion process.
   
8. Once Convert Doc has finished convert Word to html, you'll see a green checkmark (marked as "7") at the bottom right of the tasks list.
