Remove Protection From a Worksheet

You may have added a password or protection to a worksheet which you would want to remove. This is done in just a few easy steps.

To remove the protection or password from a worksheet, follow these steps:

1. Switch to the protected worksheet.
   
2. Choose ToolsProtectionUnprotect Sheet from the menu bar.
   
  Excel Password: Unprotect Sheet dialog box
   
3. When prompted, enter the protection password for the worksheet.
   
4. Click OK.

Remove Protection From a Workbook

You may have added a password or protection to a workbook which you would want to remove. This is done in just a few easy steps.

To remove the protection or password from a workbook, follow these steps:

1. Open the protected workbook.
   
2. Choose ToolsProtectionUnprotect Workbook from the menu bar.
   
  Excel Password: Unprotect Workbook dialog box
   
3. When prompted, enter the protection password for the workbook.
   
4. Click OK.

Remove The Password For Viewing or Editing a Workbook File

You may have added a password to a workbook file but now you would want to remove Excel password. This is done in just a few easy steps.

To remove the password from a workbook file, follow these steps:

1. Open the workbook.
   
2. Choose FileSave As from the menu bar.
   
3. Click ToolsGeneral Options.
   
4. In the Password to open or Password to modify box, or both boxes, double-click the asterisks and then press the DELETE key on the keyboard.
   
5. Click OK.
   
6. Click Save.
   
7. Click Yes to replace the existing workbook.
